Dr. Fleischer Sharon
Dr. Sharon Fleischer is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Life Sciences at Tel Aviv University, where she leads a research group in tissue engineering and organs‑on‑a‑chip. She completed her PhD in Cardiac Tissue Engineering at Tel Aviv University under the supervision of Prof. Tal Dvir, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at Columbia University in the laboratory of Prof. Gordana Vunjak‑Novakovic.
Dr. Fleischer’s research focuses on engineering three‑dimensional microenvironments that mimic native tissues in order to study human disease and develop advanced regenerative therapies. Her group integrates biomaterials, microfabrication, stem‑cell biology, and organ‑on‑chip technologies to model cardiovascular and other organ systems, with particular interest in vascularization, disease modeling, and drug testing. She has authored influential papers and reviews on cardiac tissue engineering and nanoscale strategies for controlling cell behavior, and has been recognized with competitive fellowships and awards, including support from the Adams and Ruth Arnon programs and a national “Women in Science” scholarship.
