Prof. Bachrach Ran Gilad
Prof. Ran Gilad-Bachrach is an Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Tel Aviv University, where he heads the MLwell lab. He earned his PhD in Mathematics and Computer Science from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. After graduation, he founded a machine-learning research group at Intel Research and later joined Microsoft, serving as an applied researcher in the Bing search engine and as a principal researcher in Microsoft Research before joining Tel Aviv University in 2019.
Prof. Gilad-Bachrach’s research focuses on machine learning and its applications for health and well-being. His contributions include machine-learning algorithms that preserve privacy, algorithms for parallel training, algorithms for learning on graphs and sets, and methods for using AI to help people cope with mental stress. He currently serves as Head of the Digital Sciences for Hi-Tech program at Tel Aviv University, is a member of the Sagol Brain Research Center, and maintains a visiting researcher position at Microsoft. He has published over 40 papers in leading machine learning and AI venues.
