Prof. Margaliot's Michael

Prof. Michael Margaliot is a Professor of Electrical Engineering and incumbent of the Systems and Control Chair at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Tel Aviv University. He completed his PhD (summa cum laude) in Electrical Engineering at Tel Aviv University and subsequently held a postdoctoral fellowship in Applied Mathematics at the Weizmann Institute of Science. His earlier studies include BSc (cum laude) and MSc degrees in Electrical/Computer Engineering from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.

Prof. Margaliot’s current research interests focus on dynamical systems, control theory, and systems biology. A significant portion of his work is devoted to the stability analysis and control of switched and positive systems, optimal control theory, control‑theoretic properties of Boolean and networked systems, and the development of k‑contraction and k‑cooperative system theory using compound matrices. In parallel, he develops mathematical models and analysis tools for gene translation and ribosome flow along mRNA, bridging control theory and synthetic/systems biology. His research combines rigorous theoretical insights with applications ranging from robust control and networked systems to quantitative models of cellular processes and gene‑expression regulation.
