Prof. VORONEL ALEXANDER

Alexander V. Voronel has been professor of physics at Tel Aviv University since 1973. He received his advanced degrees in Kharkov and Moscow. While working at the Institute of Physical and Technological Measurements in Moscow in the early 1960s, Voronel and his colleagues demonstrated that even classical liquids like argon, oxygen, and nitrogen could exhibit strong divergences in their specific heats near the critical point. This work gave experimental endorsement to the growing conviction that mean field theories were inadequate to explain a wide range of critical phenomena.
