Advantages of using MXene as fillers in CMCs
- The addition of just a few percent of 2D materials can dramatically modify the properties of matrix materials.
- MXenes posses’ high young’s modulus, electrical conductivity, and high-temperature phase stability.
- MXene solution processability make them great candidates for CMCs’ wet or slurry-based solution processing of green bodies.
- The negative zeta potential (– 32 to – 45 mV) of as-synthesized MXenes eliminates the need for the use of conventional surfactant materials.
- MXenes can be compositionally tailored for improved functional properties and grain-boundary bonding in structural CMCs.
