High resolution compact FTIR

Fourier Transform Infra-Red spectrometer (FT-IR) is a tool widely used to carry out
spectrometry.
In a standard FT-IR spectrometer, infrared light is guided into an interferometer, in
which the optical path difference (OPD) between the interferometer arms can be scanned.
The resulting interferogram, i.e. the light intensity as a function of the OPD, is Fourier
transformed in order to get the spectrum. The spectral resolution of the spectrometer is
proportional to the inverse of its largest optical path difference (or scanned armed length) and its accuracy.

The patent pending technology developed at
Tel Aviv University provides long OPD in a compact packaging.
The novel design improves the spectral
resolution of a FT-IR spectrometer without significantly affecting its footprint.
The technology is based on stepwise tunable stationary arm, effectively increasing the arm length of the interferometer.
A proprietary ‘match and patch’ algorithm, stitches multiple interferograms collected at several settings of the stationary folded arm
Into a new signal, with an effectively longer scan length.

This signal is Fourier-transformed to yield a spectrum of higher resolution than each of
the collected individual interferograms.

Multiple short scan length are stitched together to provide effectively long higher spectral
resolution scan.

Improved spectral resolution of a Fourier Transform Infra-Red spectrometer
Our patent pending technology provides long optical path difference in a
compact packaging. The novel design improves the spectral resolution of a FT-IR spectrometer without significantly affecting its footprint.
ADVANTAGES

INTEGRATION
The technology can be integrated in existing
FT-IR designs, thus can allow a compact, high resolution broadband FT-IR spectrometer.
HIGH RESOLUTION
By incorporating the technology into a tabletop laboratory device, a state of the art high
resolution spectrometer for accurate gas
detection and monitoring can be achieved.
PORTABILITY
The technology can also bring laboratory
level resolution into small portable handheld
devices.
APPLICATIONS

Compact table top high resolution FT-IR spectrometer for gas analysis
Small portable/handheld FT-IR
spectrometer with enhanced
spectral resolution
